NSPCC Number Day
Return to Latest News
On Thursday, 5th February, the pupils and staff at Newcastle Bridges at Kenton took part in the NSPCC Number Day, raising money and awareness for Childline and other NSPCC initiatives. The pupils enjoyed dressing up in clothes with numbers on and doing a 'Who Wants to be a Mathionaire?' quiz in their Maths lessons.
There were also various other activities going on, such as baking number biscuits, drawing numbers in art, and completing maths challenges throughout the day. They also had an assembly where we learnt about the work of the NSPCC and about how maths is used in a variety of careers that the pupils might be interested in, such as hairdresser, designer, builder, baker, sports person, doctor, and teacher.
Everyone had a go at guessing the number of sweets in a jar, and at guessing the mass of some items. There was a variety of outfits on show - some of them wore sports tops with numbers on, others had customised their own tops with numbers, and some had decorated their jumpers with stickers. All of the staff and pupils had a great day and raised £46.71 for the NSPCC.
