Introducing Our New Youth Worker

It is good to back in the GNCH and Freeman Hospital, after the summer break. We have some new members of staff in our team and some familiar faces. The photo is just a quick reminder of who’s who.

Introducing Hannah, our new youth worker

• Hannah is from the charity Youth Focus North East, working with young people aged 11-25, living with long term health conditions and/or accessing the hospital services
• Her role - engaging with and supporting young people, offering emotional/practical support, face to face work with young people on the wards
• She offers support with healthcare transition into adult services, coping strategies if young people are struggling with treatment and / or their condition
• She is Youth Mental Health First Aid trained
• She helps to promote social development via a range of activities, supporting young people and their families throughout their time in hospital
• She also works alongside the Young Person’s Advisory Group and Youth Forum
