As part of our weekly Kirkley Hall trip we helped prep the food for the primates. We had to go to the kitchen and got to look at the all the different types of food that the animals have, we smelt the food that the parrots eat and it smelled delicious, like fruity sweets! Unfortunately the monkey food didn’t smell quite as appetising! We had to measure out the different types of pellets in equal ratios. We then went to the kitchen in the walk of life and weighed each bowl of food out depending on the species of primate. Each student then took a bowl of food and had to go in to the enclosures and remove the old food bowls and replace it with the newly prepped food. We were really lucky on our way round to spot some new animals to the zoo. We saw three new alpacas and the new Prevost’s Squirrels. The squirrels were really inquisitive and came straight over to where we were, this meant we got to see their beautiful colourings and markings.
