Marine Conservation Society Beach Clean

The pupils recently enjoyed a rewarding day by the coast as they took part in a Marine Conservation Society Beach Clean at the beach near St Mary's Lighthouse.

As part of the activity, the pupils marked out a 100-metre squared survey area and carefully searched the beach for litter. Working together, they collected and recorded every item of rubbish they found, helping to contribute valuable data to national marine conservation efforts. They are pleased to report that the beach was exceptionally clean, with very little litter discovered within the survey area.

After completing the beach clean, the group took a walk to St Mary's Lighthouse to observe local wildlife. The visit provided a fantastic opportunity to spot several seals. The pupils were so excited to see many of them swimming in the water, while one particularly relaxed seal was spotted sunbathing on the rocks. 

The trip was an excellent way to combine environmental education, scientific data collection and wildlife observation. The pupils represented the school brilliantly and demonstrated a real commitment to caring for the natural world.
