Roots, Shoot, and Poisonous Gardens

During their visit to Alnwick Garden, the pupils started their trip by potting seeds in soil. They learnt the importance of looking after plants and how this is vital to the sale of them. The gardeners spoke about why they like gardening and the types of tasks that they may have to do within their role. Some pupils had the opportunity to use the watering can to stop the plants from becoming too dry.
At the end of the visit, they were taken into the Poison Garden and safely guided around while being taught about the different plants and why they are considered poisonous. The pupils covered a glass case with a sheet to protect the plants and enable them to grow better.
It was a very interesting visit and the pupils enjoyed looking at the different plants.
