The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis

During English and Art lessons, young people from Redburn Ward have created a wall display based on the critically acclaimed novella by Deborah Ellis.

The Breadwinner is set in Afghanistan and the protagonist is a young girl called Parvana whose struggles are documented throughout the four books of the series.

In English, students developed their annotation skills and produced poetry related to the famous photograph of the young Afghani girl.

In Art, students experimented with different mark making and painting techniques inspired by the landscapes of Kabul.
