Remembrance Day at Ferndene

On Friday 11th November 2022, the young people and staff at Ferndene Hospital joined together to observe the two-minute silence in honour of those who gave their lives to defend our freedoms. During the ceremony a poem by pupils from Redburn Ward was read out. In preparation for this special day our pupils have been studying war poetry and were able to choose poetic techniques to devise their own shared poem. The young people also created imaginative artworks using a combination of painting techniques and silhouetted images. All of our work was proudly displayed in the Foyer of the hospital for visitors and family members to see. We feel our endeavours are our way of saying thank you to all of those servicemen and their families who sacrificed so much for us.
